Merry Christmas - and thanks for your support!

2023 has been a busy old year and as we head towards Christmas I just wanted to add my personal thanks to you for your continued support of WLD!

Looking back we have been nominated for a national community newspaper award at a prestigious awards ceremony in London, printed four editions of our newspaper, attended Downing Street as part of Local News Champions reception and launched our new what’s on column, which is run by volunteer Win (supported by our community reporters) and has had hundreds of events added over the past year.

We even interviewed the Prime Minister on his recent visit to Farsley!

At the heart of our organisation are our fabulous volunteers, and I’ve been privileged to run more community reporters’ training courses and work with a hugely supportive board.

By the end of the year, we will have filed our 10,000th article in eight-and-a-half years, many of which have been been written by our brilliant community reporters. And 2023 has been our most-read ever, with 1.3 million page impressions on our website so far.

I know times continue to be difficult for many of us due to the cost of living crisis, and your ongoing support is very much appreciated. We couldn’t do any of this without you.

I hope you have a happy and peaceful festive period - I’m already looking forward to 2024 with optimism for another busy year for WLD and its team.
