Why Polyester Needs You to Share

In 2023, Instagram all but confirmed that shadowbanning is real, stating that certain posts won’t get shown to wider audiences. It has been proven repeatedly that social media algorithms are biased against marginalised people. Most recently, as we have seen, social media platforms have been using shadowbans to silence and censor important political issues (Öffnet in neuem Fenster).

We know our community feels just as strongly as we do about the issues we care about and cover, and we know you want to hear about them on social platforms.

As members, we appreciate your contributions to Polyester so much, but we wanted to drop you a quick note to say that not all support has to be monetary.

In social media, shares are worth the world – so if you love a Dollhouse piece, or an editorial we’ve shot, we’d be over the moon if you could share it via your social accounts, and encourage your friends – even those who aren’t members – to do the same. Sharing our content is a great way for those who can’t afford a membership, or who aren’t ready to commit, to support us, and we appreciate every single save, share and like.
