Fashion & Jewelry Pop-ups, a Voguing Ball and a huge Exhibition Opening

Agenda Edition #17 / 22.-25.08 / Current mood: Bye bye summer doldrums

Hi, and welcome back to agenda - got plans?, a newsletter featuring a curated selection of art, design, and fashion events in Berlin. I'm Kate, a freelance journalist, Berlin local, and art lover. I hope my newsletter makes it a bit easier for you to navigate everything this city has to offer.

How are you? I have the feeling the city is slowly waking up from a long summer nap. September is around the corner, bringing with it events like Berlin Art Week and Fashion Week.

But before that, we’re in for a treat this weekend with the Long Nights at Museums, plus several other fashion and art happenings that caught my eye:

  • Have a great time at the Neue Nationalgalerie for a special unveiling.

  • Check out the flea market at Studio Herrlich.

  • Get your hands on unique apparel and jewelry pieces this weekend.

  • Don’t miss the art party of the weekend

  • Attend a ball!

#1 „Sound in the Garden“ | Neue Nationalgalerie

As part of their event series "Sound in the Garden," there's a special happening at the Neue Nationalgalerie this Thursday evening. In addition to free admission to the exhibitions, the "Unveiling" of the sculpture Goldelse by artist Alicja Kwade will take place in the beautiful sculpture garden. The artist herself will be present.

Enjoy live music by Rosin and Stabat Kater, along with DJ sets by Lari Ferrarie and Rico Sperl. Cold drinks will also be served!

“Sound in the Garden”
Thursday, 22.08, 19:00
Location: Neue Nationalgalerie
You need to book a mandatory ticket free of charge (admission is only possible with a valid ticket).

#2 Studio Flea Market | Herrlich Dining

I personally love flea markets, but I hate big crowds and messy tables. That’s why I’m always on the lookout for yard sales and smaller venues rather than Berlin’s touristy markets. So it's no surprise this event caught my attention: Herrlich Studio (a charming and popular spot for fine/fun dining) is hosting a flea market on Thursday night. Expect clothing, tableware, and fresh, boozy slushies.

20% of all sales will be directly donated to Abortionbuddy, a charity organization that provides support after an abortion (including services like a taxi ride!).

If you haven’t already gotten your hands on tickets for the Long Night of Museums this Saturday, grab them now! In addition to exploring Berlin’s finest art institutions, you can attend plenty of readings, performances, and guided tours that night. My highlight is the “Early Delight Ball,” a voguing performance presented by some of Berlin’s most famous ballroom goddesses at the Museum für Kommunikation. Come early to claim a good spot!
