Thank you for two years at Steady

Including a small thank you for my subscribers

My first offical post with Steady happened on January 3rd, 2023 (Abre numa nova janela) - for reasons (Abre numa nova janela), obviously. 😄

I hope I was able to explain in that post why I changed from Patreon to Steady and I can tell you I have not regretted it a single day.

The one thing I always tend to say - Think Patreon, just better! - definitely holds true. And given the fact that Steady is constantly improving things behind the curtains so I can make better use of this crowdfunding venture I am very pleased, indeed.

Not only that - given the terrifying changes with US tech companies happening right now it can only be a question of time when services like Patreon and Substack will have even more issues to contend with.

This will not happen with Steady.

But why celebrate Jan 27?

Well, because I do not consider the announcement per se as the start of things but the day I posted my first two items here with Steady - Jan 27, 2023.

The Royal Mint and its 2023 Annual Sets (Abre numa nova janela) - including a JRR Tolkien £2 coin

&

The Seventy-Ninth Roving Ranger. (Abre numa nova janela)

I quickly followed that on Jan 30 with my first ever Patreon post (Abre numa nova janela) (May 18, 2020) which coincided with the official registration of the German Tolkien Society in Cologne as a registered charity - 25 years after the fact (Abre numa nova janela), on Jan 30, 1998.

In one month’s time after that a total of 32 posts followed - mostly posts moved from Patreon to Steady - but it was an amazing time for me, seeing people join me from Patreon and elsewhere.

And now, at the time of writing, 368 posts have been published, of which ~300 are available to subscribers of all levels - thank you so much for this.

So, what’s the gift?

You can now invite a guest to enjoy all of this with you - at no extra cost to you.

Depending on the subscription plan you have chosen with Steady you may even have two or three guests you can invite right now. So, if you know a fellow Tolkien fan you’d love to share my work with, please do!

If you want to know how this is done please visit this FAQ (Abre numa nova janela).

Thank you for the opportunity of writing for you. It truly means the world to me. Marcel

Let’s make this year an even better one!
