Art & Feminism: Your Berlin Weekend Guide

Agenda Edition #29 / 07.03-09.03.2025 / Current mood: female gaze
Hi, and welcome back to agenda – got plans?, a newsletter featuring a curated selection of art, design, and fashion events in Berlin. I’m Kate, a freelance journalist, Berlin local, and art lover. I hope this newsletter makes it a bit easier for you to navigate everything this city has to offer.
That said: That said: Unfortunately, this year, the 8th of March falls on a Saturday (which means no extra holiday for us), but I hope you celebrate International Women's Day anyway – by having a great day for yourself, spending time with your loved ones, or demonstrating for equal rights on Berlin’s streets (there are at least four big demonstrations taking place). In keeping with the occasion, my picks revolve around FLINTA artists, women on screen, the female gaze, and female leadership.
#1 Female Leadership Panel Talk
Kick off your weekend with an inspiring panel talk on female leadership this Friday night, featuring some of Berlin’s most influential creatives in the fashion scene. Powerhouse Sevil Uguz, founding member of Platte Berlin and CEO of 0049x agency, stylist and art director Nessie Değerli, Namilia’s founders Nan Li and Emilia Pfohl, and more trailblazing voices will take the stage. After the talk, stick around for free drinks, live music, and the chance to mingle with industry leaders.

#3 Final Girls Film Festival
If there’s one movie genre I avoid, it’s horror – I never understood why people enjoy films that are overly spooky, cruel, or bloody just for the sake of it. But if you, unlike me, enjoy horror movies, make sure to check out the Final Girl Films Festival happening this weekend at City-Kino Wedding.

Picture: MI BESTIA, Directed by Camila Beltrán, Colombia/France, 2024 | Berlin Premiere via Final Girls Film Festival
The festival showcases horror cinema directed, written, or produced by women* and non-binary filmmakers. Its goal is to shift the focus away from the male gaze (women as beautified victims or projections of male fantasies and anxieties) and towards stories where women are subjects and storytellers in horror.
(*their definition of women includes anyone with female experience –past or present– and is trans-inclusive)
Final Girls Film Festival
05.-09.03.2024
Location: City-Kino Wedding, Müllerstraße 74, 13349 Berlin

#4 Black & Queer Feminism in Berlin: Guided Tour
Guided tours usually give me the ick, as they often bring to mind groups of old white Germans visiting the most generic city spots – BUT this one caught my attention. Dekoloniale Stadtführung (@decolonialtours) has teamed up with C/O Berlin for a guided tour through Schöneberg on Sunday. You’ll learn about Black and queer feminism, the district’s ties to colonialism and industrialization, and its connections to Afro-German and feminist history. The tour highlights visionaries like Audre Lorde, May Ayim, and Ika Hügel-Marshall, whose work had a lasting influence on Germany’s human rights movement.
Seems like a great way to connect with like-minded people, discuss, and learn while strolling in the sunshine. After the tour, participants will receive a coupon for reduced admission to the current C/O exhibitions for 6€.
Black & Queer Feminism in Berlin: Guided Tour
Sunday, 09.03.2025, 14:00-16:00
Meeting point: Heinrich von Kleist Park, Schöneberg
