Listening Sessions, free Wellness Bar, and Gong Bathing

Agenda Edition #14 / 01.-04.08 / Current mood: Berlin fatigue

Hi, and welcome back to agenda - got plans?, a newsletter featuring a curated selection of art, design, and fashion events in Berlin. I'm Kate, a freelance journalist, Berlin local, and art lover. I hope my newsletter makes it a bit easier for you to navigate through everything this city offers.

How are you? I feel very under the weather at the moment. I don’t now what it is, but it feels like a Berlin fatigue. Is anyone experiencing the same? I think I need a few long nights sitting outside with friends to feel connected to the city again. That said, here are some events I will for sure check out this weekend:

  • Free nail art by Isla Berlin

  • Listening session at Gropius Bau

  • A special dance performance

  • A gong bath at The Feuerle Collection

#1 Wellness Day at Laundromat

No, Laundromat is not a place to wash your dirty laundry. It’s a pop-up shop by Adidas in Prenzlauer Berg, hosting many free events and happenings. The store design is quite nice, resembling a playful vintage shop more than one of those big Adidas stores you probably know from Ku’damm or Alex.

On Friday, Laundromat will transform into a Wellness Bar, offering free nail art by Isla Berlin, free coffee and snacks by Lap Coffee Shop, and apparently some goodie bags as well!

Wellness Day
Friday, 13:00 -20:00
Free admission
Location: Laundromat, Stargarder Str. 74, 10437 Berlin

#2 Summer Listening Sessions | Gropius Bau

I often talked about the Berlin Beats rave sessions at Hamburger Bahnhof in this newsletter, but on Friday, another art institution is throwing a music event: Gropius Bau invites us to its summer terrace for DJ sets by Castro and Nemo from Sound Metaphors. The evening will be accompanied by fresh cocktails and street food from the kitchen of Restaurant Beba.

If you haven’t heard about it before: Sound Metaphors (Abre numa nova janela) is a Berlin based record store and record label. Join them for a curated selection of their favorite records, presented by their customized sound systems.

Sound Metaphors: Summer Listening Sessions
Friday, 18:00 - 21:00
Free admission
Location: Gropius Bau, Beba Terasse, Niederkirchnerstraße 7, 10963 Berlin

#3 Young Boy Dancing Group | Performance

I love dance as an art form, but somehow I do not attend dance performances that often. This event, however, caught my attention because it feels quite intriguing (in a good way): The Young Boy Dancing Group is a performance collective experimenting with naked bodies, candles, water, dance, and a DIY aesthetic. Although they perform all over the world, their look and feel is very Berlin-ish. I am curious to see what kind of performance they will present on Friday.

#4 Gong Bath at The Feuerle Collection

If you’re in need of a calming, relaxing experience this weekend, I recommend splurging on a ticket for the gong bath experience at the Feuerle Collection (33€). As you may know, it is one of my favorite art spaces in Berlin, located in an old bunker featuring a beautiful collection of Asian sculptures and furniture. From time to time, they host very special events, like tea ceremonies or calligraphy workshops. This Saturday, you can join their 75-minute long gong bath experience, which aims to reduce stress and tension. The sound waves help to reach an internal state of silence and deep sensory relaxation. You will be provided with yoga mats and blankets. The ticket price includes a visit to the collection (which usually costs 22€ by itself).

Gong Bath at The Feuerle Collection
Saturday, 10:45 / 12:30 / 14:15
You need to book your tickets beforehand, limited capacity
Hallesches Ufer 70, 10963 Berlin
