Sehr geehrte Wissenschaftlerinnen,
die Kinderbetreuung in den Sommerferien will frühzeitig geplant sein, denn Ferienzeit ist nicht immer Urlaubszeit für die Eltern.
Als familiengerechte Hochschule ist es der Universität Mannheim ein Anliegen, Familien in dieser Zeit zu unterstützen und eine Ferienbetreuung zu ermöglichen. Wir freuen uns daher sehr, auch dieses Jahr wieder das Angebot der „Delta Kids“ unterbreiten zu können.
Die „Delta Kids“ (Opens in a new window) bieten Kinderferiencamps mit dem Schwerpunkt Sport in Mannheim und an folgenden Terminen an:

Die Camps sind wochenweise buchbar und finden jeweils montags – freitags von 07.30 Uhr bis 17.00 Uhr statt. Das Angebot richtet sich an alle Kinder von Beschäftigten der Universität Mannheim der Jahrgänge 2010- 2015.

#Perspektivwechsel: WUMAN meets BPW – Netzwerkeabendam 6. Juli 2022 – Anmeldung bis heute, 28.06.22 möglich!
Frauennetzwerke gibt es einige in der Rhein-Neckar-Region. Der BPW Ma-Lu ist dabei ein zentrales Netzwerk für berufstätige Frauen, während das WUMANetzwerk weibliche und andere marginalisierte Wissenschaftler*innen adressiert. Gemein ist beiden Netzwerken das interdisziplinäre Engagement für Gleichstellung und Diversität in Beruf und Gesellschaft. An diesem Netzwerkeabend wollen wir Raum zur Begegnung und zum Perspektivwechsel schaffen: Welche Annahmen haben wir über die jeweils anderen Berufsfelder und deren Arbeitsalltag? Welche Themen beschäftigen uns in unseren Netzwerken? Welche Ideen, Ansätze und Lösungen haben wir individuell oder in unseren Netzwerken erarbeitet?
Lasst uns voneinander lernen und uns auf dem Weg in eine fairere Gesellschaft gegenseitig unterstützen!

Bertha-Benz-Vorlesung von Mechtild Rössler in der SRH Hochschule Heidelberg Von Bamiyan nach Palmyra – Wie die UNESCO unser Welterbe rettet
Im Jahr 2001 zerstörten Taliban in Afghanistan die beiden Buddha-Statuen vom Bamiyan als „falsche Götzen“. Nur die Umrisse und einige Bruchstücke der rund 1500 Jahre alten Figuren blieben übrig. Die Sprengung der beiden Kunstwerke „erschütterte“ die ganze Welt: Denn mit ihnen gingen einzigartige Zeugnisse der Menschheitsgeschichte unwiederbringlich verloren. Diese mutwillige Vernichtung wurde zu einem Weckruf und führte zur UNESCO-Erklärung von 2003, die sich gegen die Zerstörung des kulturellen Erbes richtet. Die Konvention von 2005 schützt ausdrücklich die Vielfalt kultureller Ausdrucksformen – als eine neue „Magna Charta“ der internationalen Kulturpolitik.
Im 21. Jahrhundert wurde kulturelles Erbe auch andernorts großräumig zerstört – insbesondere in Kriegsgebieten. Und die Situation bleibt weiterhin brisant: Von Hatra im Irak bis Timbuktu in Mali, von Sanaa im Jemen bis Palmyra in Syrien sind heute viele der mehr als 1000 Welterbestätten schwer betroffen und bedürfen des Schutzes der Weltgemeinschaft. Denn die Täter zielen durch die Vernichtung von kulturell bedeutenden Gegenständen und Kulturerbestätten darauf ab, das Wissen zukünftiger Generationen zu beeinflussen und ihnen ihre Erinnerungsfähigkeit zu nehmen. Durch ein systematisches und rechtzeitiges Eingreifen der UNESCO soll dies verhindert werden.
[zur Person] Die deutsche Geografin Dr. Mechtild Rössler arbeitet seit 1991 Jahren für das Welterbezentrum der UNESCO in Paris, das sie seit 2015 leitet. Sie ist zuständig für sämtliche 1092 Stätten, die als Kultur- oder Naturerbe der Menschheit gelten – und damit die oberste Kulturhüterin der Welt. In ihrem Vortrag nimmt Rössler das Publikum mit auf eine Reise, in der sie ihre Erfahrungen der letzten drei Jahrzehnte aus erster Hand präsentiert.

Solidarität ist ein wichtiger Bestandteil von demokratischen Gesellschaften. Verbündetenschaft – allyship – ist eine Möglichkeit solidarisch zu sein: Menschen setzen ohne eigene Betroffenheit ihre Privilegien für marginalisierte oder diskriminierte Menschen ein. Mit dem Konzept der Verbündetenschaft kann eine intersektional ausgerichtete Gleichstellungspolitik (weiter-)entwickelt werden. Der Blick auf die eigenen Privilegien führt dabei auch zu einer Kritik von Macht und Hierarchien.
Auf der Jahrestagung möchten wir sowohl das Konzept der Verbündetenschaft aus einer geschlechterpolitischen Perspektive diskutieren als auch die eigene politische Praxis der bukof reflektieren. Was macht „Verbündete“ aus? Wie gehen Gleichstellungsakteur*innen mit Erwartungen in Bezug auf allyship um? Welche Bedingungen, Möglichkeiten, Herausforderungen und Verunsicherungen beinhaltet es „ally“ zu sein? Was bedeutet das Konzept innerhalb und außerhalb der gleichstellungspolitischen Zusammenhänge?

Der educon Bildungshackathon findet am 6. und 7. Juli 2022 im Altbau der Pädagogischen Hochschule Heidelberg statt.

Bitte beachten Sie: Das Seminar "Mein Weg zur EU-Forschungsförderung" musste kurzfristig verschoben werden und findet nun am 23. September statt.
Für „Beruf, Berufung, Berufungsverfahren“ (Opens in a new window) am 24. Juni sind noch wenige Plätze frei: Stehen bei Ihnen Berufungsverfahren an? Oder erst in weiterer Zukunft, Sie möchten sich dem Thema aber schon einmal annähern, das System dahinter verstehen? Das Programm zum Seminar schicken wir Ihnen anbei.

Save the Date: #equalitycamp2022 am 28. und 29. September
The Beginning of Change: Das #equalitycamp ist der Hackathon für Gender Equality. Das Camp ist das Format, bei dem wir mit euch Ideen für eine gerechtere (Arbeits-) welt entwickeln wollen.
Über zwei Tage packen wir gemeinsam an: Wir tüfteln an neuen Ideen für #equality, bekommen inspirierende Inputs von Expert*innen und lernen von den Beispielen anderer.
Ab dem 1. Juli können Unternehmen bei uns eine eigene Challenge einreichen, die sie gerne beim Camp bearbeitet sehen wollen. Ab dem 1. August könnt ihr euch dann als Teilnehmende für das Camp anmelden.
Merkt euch unbedingt jetzt schon den 28. und 29. September vor und seid dabei, wenn wir gemeinsam #equality voranbringen.

Bei jeder Spätschicht stellt sich eine Gründerin aus unserem Netzwerk persönlich vor und wir genießen den gegenseitigen Austausch. Im Juni freuen wir uns auf Kathinka, die als Coachin mit der Mission selbständig gemacht hat, Frauen bei der Gründung zu begleiten - nichts könnte uns näher sein!
Die Spätschicht ist für dich, wenn du gerade im Prozess der (Start-up) Gründung steckst ein junges Unternehmen führst dich für Gründung und Selbständigkeit interessierst oder einfach neugierig auf den Alltag einer Gründerin bist inspirierende Frauen kennenlernen möchtest, die an einem ähnlichen Punkt stehen wie du.

Why should you apply?
Barriers to innovation in the context of academic and research institutions include the lack of transferable entrepreneurship training, lack of real-world commercial experience for doctoral level candidates and, importantly, funding to enable transition of ideas and innovative discoveries into commercially linked programs and ultimately new products and services.
The aim of the PhD Transition Fellowship Program is to address the innovation funding gap between completion of the doctoral thesis and obtaining further seed funding. Applicants should be typically in their final year of thesis submission and close to the award of their doctoral degree. The three most innovative concepts or prototypes will be provided with a pre-seed award (up to 20.000 €) to fund accelerated development of discovery research in the applicants first post-doctoral year.
Who is eligible for funding?
Eligible applicants must be PhD students who performing research at a university or research institute in Baden Wurttemberg (e.g. University Heidelberg, Heidelberg University Hospital, EMBL, DKFZ, ZI – Central Institute of Mental Health Mannheim, Max-Planck-Institute for Medical Research, University Hospital Mannheim and others).
They should be close to completion of their doctoral training (We recommend ≈ 1 year). However, it is not a criterion for exclusion if the doctoral training ends later. Moreover, their research must be in the field of Life Science or another health-related field.
How to apply?

Eligible proposals comprise:
• a summary of the candidate's innovative research project or discovery (0,5 – 1 page). Please focus on the following content: problem, solution, needs and next steps.

• the completed and signed “PhD Supervisor Confirmation Form” from the PhD supervisor

20. Expertenrunde Bildung in der KLIMA ARENA:
SDG 4 - Hochwertige Bildung für alle - diesem Thema widmet sich die diesjährige Expertenrunde Bildung am 05.10.2022
Hochwertige Bildung im frühkindlichen Bereich und über alle Bildungsgänge hinweg, in der beruflichen- und Hochschulbildung sowie auch in der Aus- und Weiterbildung insbesondere von Lehrkräften, stehen an diesem Tag im Fokus.
Für einen gleichberechtigten Zugang und eine gerechte Vermittlung von Bildung sollen kreative, neue methodische Ansätze, Studien zur nachhaltigen und hochwertigen Bildung, Unterrichtskonzepte, Projekte oder auch Materialien wie Mysterys oder Rollenspiele vorgestellt werden. Diese sollen im Nachgang in einem Sammelband bereitgestellt und veröffentlich werden. Inklusive, gleichberechtigte und hochwertige Bildung gewährleisten und Möglichkeiten lebenslangen Lernens für alle fördern ist Aufgabe aller Bildungsakteur*innen und gelingt gemeinsam noch besser und innovativer.
Wünschenswert ist eine Kopplung des innovativen Bildungsansatzes mit dem thematischen Ansatz des SDG 13 Maßnahmen für den Klimaschutz.
Die Keynote zum Thema Hochwertige Bildung übernimmt Prof. Dr. Olaf-Axel Burow, der Einblicke in seine Bücher #Schule der Zukunft“ und „Future Fridays – warum wir das Schulfach Zukunft brauchen“, ermöglichen wird.

Feministisches Erinnern – Feminismus erinnern
Die Zeitschrift feministische studien feiert in diesem Jahr ihren vierzigsten Geburtstag. Vierzig Jahrgänge, achtzig Ausgaben, mehrere Hundert Aufsätze, Rezensionen, Tagungsberichte, Gespräche, Interviews und Berichte zu feministischer Theorie und Frauen- und Geschlechterforschung quer durch alle Disziplinen. Das Jubiläumsheft Woher wir kommen (Heft 1_2022) wird in den nächsten Tagen ausgeliefert; das Heft 1_2023 wird sich komplett der Frage des feministischen Erinnernd widmen. Parallel begleiten wir das Thema auf unserem Blog. Den Auftakt macht ein Beitrag von Dorothea Besch, Andrea Hund und Ilona Scheide zur neuen baf-bewegungskarte, die dazu einlädt, der Geschichte der Neuen Frauenbewegung in Baden-Württemberg zu folgen.
Die „baf-Bewegungskarte“ macht Frauen*LesbenInitiativen und Einrichtungen seit der Neuen Frauenbewegung topographisch sichtbar.

Dear female scientists
childcare during the summer vacations needs to be planned well in advance, because vacation time is not always vacation time for parents.
As a family-friendly university, it is important to the University of Mannheim to support families during this time and to make vacation care possible. We are therefore very pleased to be able to offer the "Delta Kids" program again this year.
The "Delta Kids" offer children's holiday camps with a focus on sports in Mannheim and on the following dates:
01.08.-05.08.2022/ 15.08.-19.08.2022/ 22.08.-26.08.2022/ 29.08.-02.09.2022/ 05.09.-09.09.2022/

The camps can be booked by the week and take place Mondays - Fridays from 07:30 to 17:00. The camps are open to all children of employees of the University of Mannheim born between 2010 and 2015.

#Change of Perspective: WUMAN meets BPW - Networking Evening
There are several women's networks in the Rhine-Neckar region. The BPW Ma-Lu is a central network for working women, while the WUMANetzwerk addresses female and other marginalized scientists*. What both networks have in common is their interdisciplinary commitment to equality and diversity in the workplace and society.At this networking evening, we want to create space for encounters and a change of perspective: What assumptions do we have about each other's professional fields and their everyday work? What are the issues that concern us in our networks? What ideas, approaches and solutions have we developed individually or in our networks?
Let's learn from each other and support each other on the way to a fairer society!

Bertha Benz Lecture by Mechtild Rössler at the SRH University of Applied Sciences Heidelberg From Bamiyan to Palmyra
- How UNESCO is saving our world heritage
In 2001 Taliban in Afghanistan destroyed the two Buddha statues from Bamiyan as "false idols". Only the outlines and some fragments of the approximately 1500-year-old figures remained. The blowing up of the two works of art "shook" the whole world: for with them unique testimonies of human history were irretrievably lost. This wanton destruction became a wake-up call and led to the UNESCO Declaration of 2003, which is directed against the destruction of cultural heritage. The 2005 Convention explicitly protects the diversity of cultural expressions - as a new "Magna Charta" of international cultural policy.
In the 21st century, cultural heritage has been destroyed on a large scale elsewhere as well - especially in war zones. And the situation remains volatile: from Hatra in Iraq to Timbuktu in Mali, from Sanaa in Yemen to Palmyra in Syria, many of the more than 1,000 World Heritage sites are now severely affected and in need of protection by the global community. This is because by destroying culturally significant objects and heritage sites, perpetrators aim to influence the knowledge of future generations and deprive them of their ability to remember. This should be prevented by a systematic and timely intervention of UNESCO.
[personal details] German geographer Dr. Mechtild Rössler has worked for UNESCO's World Heritage Centre in Paris for 1991 years, which she has headed since 2015. She is responsible for all 1092 sites considered cultural or natural heritage of humanity - making her the world's top cultural custodian. In her lecture, Rössler will take the audience on a journey, presenting her first-hand experiences over the past three decades.

Solidarity is an important component of democratic societies. Allyship is a way to be in solidarity: People use their privileges for marginalized or discriminated people without their own concern. The concept of allyship can be used to (further) develop an intersectionally oriented equality policy. Looking at one's own privileges thereby also leads to a critique of power and hierarchies.
At the annual conference, we would like to discuss the concept of allyship from a gender policy perspective as well as reflect on bukof's own political practice. What constitutes "allyship"? How do gender equality actors* deal with expectations regarding allyship? What conditions, opportunities, challenges and uncertainties does being "ally" entail? What does the concept mean inside and outside of gender equality policy contexts?
Invitation to the educon educational hackathon 2022
You have a seemingly unsolvable question or see a problem in education that no one knows how to solve? You want to help shape the educational landscape and get involved in the education of the future?
Then get involved and sign up for the educon Education Hackathon 2022! At the educon Hackathon, education is thought of in a long-term and sustainable way. Selected ideas will be awarded and receive start-up funding.
The educon Education Hackathon will take place on July 6 and 7, 2022 in the Old Building of the Heidelberg University of Education.

We look forward to receiving your registrations! If you have any questions about any of the events, please feel free to contact us as well.
In addition, we have something new planned for this year. We are in the final stages of preparing an interactive online flyer for the MuT Program 2022, which will provide a more structured overview of the events and faster access to the information and dates that interest you. All in A4 format, for easy and straightforward printing.
Furthermore, we have updates and notes for the upcoming MuT seminars for you.
Please note: The seminar "My way to EU research funding" had to be postponed at short notice and will now take place on September 23.
There are still a few places available for "Beruf, Berufung, Berufungsverfahren" on June 24: Do you have appointment procedures coming up? Or are you planning to do so in the near future, but would like to get to know the system behind it? We are sending you the program for the seminar enclosed.
We can also offer places for the last seminar before the summer break. In "My Way - Profiling and Career Planning in Science" on July 15, you will define your own profile and identify the next steps on your career path.

Save the Date: #equalitycamp2022
September 28 and 29
The Beginning of Change: #equalitycamp is the hackathon for gender equality. The camp is the format where we want to develop ideas for a more just (working) world with you.
Over the course of two days, we'll get to work together: We tinker with new ideas for #equality, get inspiring input from experts and learn from the examples of others.
From July 1, companies can submit their own challenge to us, which they would like to see worked on at the camp. From August 1, you can register as a participant for the camp.
Be sure to mark your calendars now for September 28 and 29 and join us as we advance #equality together.
June 27, 7 p.m.: Late shift with Kathinka Gaess
At every Spätschicht, a founder from our network introduces herself personally and we enjoy the mutual exchange. In June we are looking forward to Kathinka, who started her own business as a coach with the mission to accompany women in their start-up - nothing could be closer!
The late shift is for you if you are are in the process of founding a (start-up) company you are running a young company are interested in start-ups and self-employment or are simply curious about the everyday life of a female founder want to meet inspiring women who are at a similar point as you.

Why should you apply?
Barriers to innovation in the context of academic and research institutions include the lack of transferable entrepreneurship training, lack of real-world commercial experience for doctoral level candidates and, importantly, funding to enable transition of ideas and innovative discoveries into commercially linked programs and ultimately new products and services.
The aim of the PhD Transition Fellowship Program is to address the innovation funding gap between completion of the doctoral thesis and obtaining further seed funding. Applicants should typically be in their final year of thesis submission and close to the award of their doctoral degree. The three most innovative concepts or prototypes will be provided with a pre-seed award (up to 20.000 €) to fund accelerated development of discovery research in the applicants first post-doctoral year.
Who is eligible for funding?
Eligible applicants must be PhD students who performing research at a university or research institute in Baden Wurttemberg (e.g. University Heidelberg, Heidelberg University Hospital, EMBL, DKFZ, ZI - Central Institute of Mental Health Mannheim, Max-Planck-Institute for Medical Research, University Hospital Mannheim and others).
They should be close to completion of their doctoral training (We recommend ≈ 1 year). However, it is not a criterion for exclusion if the doctoral training ends later. Moreover, their research must be in the field of Life Science or another health-related field.
How to apply?

Eligible proposals comprise:
- a summary of the candidate's innovative research project or discovery (0,5 - 1 page). Please focus on the following content: problem, solution, needs and next steps.
- a CV (max. 2 pages)
- the completed and signed "PhD Supervisor Confirmation Form" from the PhD supervisor

Expert*innenrunde Bildung- Call for Proposal (Deadline: 30.06)
20th Expert Roundtable on Education in the KLIMA ARENA: SDG 4 - Quality education for all - this is the topic of this year's Expert Roundtable on Education on 05.10.2022.
High-quality education in early childhood and across all educational pathways, in vocational and higher education, as well as in initial and continuing education, especially for teachers, will be the focus on this day.
Creative, new methodological approaches, studies on sustainable and high-quality education, teaching concepts, projects or even materials such as mysteries or role-playing games are to be presented for equal access and equitable imparting of education. These are to be made available and published in an anthology as a follow-up. Ensuring inclusive, equal and high-quality education and promoting opportunities for lifelong learning for all is the task of all education actors and can be achieved even better and more innovatively together.
It is desirable to link the innovative approach to education with the thematic approach of SDG 13 measures for climate protection.
The keynote on the topic of high-quality education will be given by Prof. Dr. Olaf-Axel Burow, who will provide insights into his books #School of the Future" and "Future Fridays - why we need the school subject Future".

Feminist Remembering - Remembering Feminism
The journal feministische studien celebrates its fortieth birthday this year. Forty volumes, eighty issues, several hundred essays, reviews, conference reports, conversations, interviews, and reports on feminist theory and women's and gender studies across all disciplines. The anniversary issue Where We Come From (issue 1_2022) will be delivered in the next few days; issue 1_2023 will be devoted entirely to the question of feminist memory. In parallel, we will accompany the topic on our blog. We start with an article by Dorothea Besch, Andrea Hund and Ilona Scheide on the new baf-bewegungskarte, which invites you to follow the history of the New Women's Movement in Baden-Württemberg.
The "baf movement map" makes women*lesbian initiatives and institutions since the New Women's Movement topographically visible.
