New article out at openDemocracy

The article by Unit-reporter Regina Im deals with the unbearable silence of Chechnya’s lesbians in the light of the recent anti-LGBT purges in the North Caucasus republic.

In her report, Regina describes her search for female voices talking first-hand about the incidents and finds a number of reasons why the kept silent.

"I know that there are LGBT women in Chechnya. And in my attempts to contact them, I learned why they declined to be interviewed for this article. All I can do now is give voice to their fear."
