Once Upon A Time In America
A few members of ERNST have temporarily relocated to the American South, and have been using their trip for musical inspiration. Also: Check out one of our new demos and find out why melancholy can be such an important part of being an artist.
By the way: If you haven't, you can subscribe to our monthly newsletter and get it directly into your inbox:
What's been happening?
It's already three weeks into Dan and Ralf's adventure in the US. You can follow what they've been up to in their travel blog (Opens in a new window), which they update weekly.
In Atlanta, they acquired two new beautiful instruments. Dan bought a Washburn acoustic guitar and Ralf finally got his long desired lap steel guitar.
We've asked our fans on Instagram to vote for the guitars' names, and we have a clear winner: The newly bought guitars are now officially called Sissy (yes, spelled differently to the Austrian Empress) and Franz. May they produce incredible sounds for ERNST in the future! ❤️🎸
Sneak Peek of the Month
Check out a demo version of our new song "The Museum" (or, as it's also known, by its hook: "Everything In My House Will Be In A Museum Soon" 😉).
And yes, this video was taken by mistake: We were planning on taking a nice picture of us on the rooftop and it turned out that we're VERY good at doing that. In fact, it took us 15 seconds to realise that it was in fact a video we were recording. Oh well.

In this part of the newsletter, we always provide a cut-out of one of our songs and talk to you a little bit about the meaning behind the lyrics.
O Melancholy (Opens in a new window) (live) was the third song we released in our current formation. It's a love-hate ode to an essential part in the art-making-process: melancholy. You can check out the live video from last year. We played O Melancholy at Kramladen, Vienna.

O Melancholy
Dearest friend
And greatest foe
You left without a word
You turned and walked
I ran behind
But lost your sight
Until I thought
I'd found you
I tapped your shoulder
It wasn't you
Big brown eyes
Looked into mine
Further from you
They could not be
The sparkle in them
The purest cheek
I felt the urge
I felt the need
To stay and talk
And they talked back
They looked inside me
Question of the month
Yes, this newsletter is not only about us, it's about you too! It would be awesome to hear from you. You can chat to us by email (simply hit "reply"!) about the band project, our songs or whatever comes to your mind.
Our question to you this month is:
What's your personal relationship with melancholy? Have you been using it to create your own art?
What's coming?
A third member of the band (Nicki) is joining Ralf & Dan in the US at the end of the month.
Our charity gig at Kramladen will be on 13th December. All profits will be donated to Verein Wiener Frauenhäuser. We'll be supported by the great dream pop band Lavandine (Opens in a new window). Save the date!
A goodbye, but not for long...
Thanks so much for your interest in us as a band and our music. We really appreciate you took the time and hope you had fun with the extra content!
Lots of love,
ERNST 💗💛💜
