ERNST Oldies on Tour

After Dan & Ralf’s seven week trip through the US (check out their travel blog! (Opens in a new window)), Nicki has joined the other oldies of ERNST in Dallas, Texas to check out the music scene and she sure hopes it’s not just country!

By the way: If you haven't, you can subscribe to our monthly newsletter and get it directly into your inbox:

What's been happening?

While Dan and Ralf are still travelling around America, Nicki, Elias & Philipp have been super productive and worked on some new songs in preparation for the upcoming album. The two American boys have meanwhile been busy breaking in their new instruments (Sissy & Franz) so who knows: maybe they’re ready for a guest appearance at our December concert. We have been all missing each other dearly, but at least we managed to have a phone call.❤️❤️

Sneak Peek of the Month

On Nicki’s second day in America, Ralf, Dan and her went to Deep Ellum, a bohemian district of Dallas and got inspired by some live music. Kurt Cobain famously got kicked out of a music venue there because he hit a security guard in the head with a guitar during a gig. Inspired by this, returning home, they decided to do a little jam in the hotel room. Nicki managed to restrain Ralf and Dan from becoming The Who/Mötley Crüe and instead they recorded this peaceful little number:

Behind the lyrics

In this part of the newsletter, we always provide a cut-out of one of our songs and talk to you a little bit about the meaning behind the lyrics.

Goodbye was the first song we released in 2021. It's a murder ballad in German and English.

Goodbye

Der Salat war grün

Sah ihn schon rot verfärben

Spieß an der Wand, kann meine Wut nicht mehr verbergen

13 Mal - klopft der Spieß an seine Knochen

An seinem Herzen ist er dann zerbrochen

Well, I see him there in my mind

I gotta kill him more time

My baby’s gone

And here a song for him

But I don’t know what to sing

He left me there on this fucking planet

Going to hell with it

Goodbye

Goodbye

Fucking goodbye

Goodbye

Goodbye

Given our recent adventures in Texas, our question to you this month is:

What team are you on: Rock music from the U.S. or from Britain?

What's coming?

  • Our charity gig at Kramladen will be on 13th December. All profits are donated to Verein Wiener Frauenhäuser. We'll be supported by the great dream pop band Lavandine (Opens in a new window). Save the date!

A goodbye, but not for long...

Thanks so much for your interest in us as a band and our music. We really appreciate you took the time and hope you had fun with the extra content!
