A community is formed above all by meetings.

And meetings require a space, a commons.

ereb is searching for this space.

ereb has its official headquarters in Paris.

However, as a cross-border community media platform born in the middle of a global pandemic, we are now required to find (or rather invent) a non-physical space in which to meet.

Road to ereb (Opens in a new window) is our first attempt: a live English language podcast which will be broadcast once a week on Spreaker. This space is especially geared towards members, who can intervene in real time through Skype, but it’s also open to public listeners.

To recap

The first two meetings gathered the founding members of the ereb community: Jessica, Giovanna and Marco (you can find the previous episodes here). Together with Alexander, Léa, Lorenzo and Quentin from the ereb core team, we began to reflect on ereb’s identity, it’s future ‘added-value’, and the prospects for development.

Our next meeting is scheduled for Friday 28 May at 17.30 CET: we will be talking about possible spaces for participation, and how the community can contribute to ereb’s editorial development. We will update members and listeners on the various tasks we’ve been working on over this past week, focusing in particular on the website and, more specifically, its brand new ‘wireframes.’

An important decision - the topic of our first report

Our time this week has been especially taken-up with a discussion about the first story we’ll publish as part of ereb. In order to select four proposals that members will then choose between (starting with the next story they will be involved in the proposal stage itself), we asked ourselves some questions:

• What’s been going on in Europe over the past month?

• To what extent do these topics relate to the themes that the ereb community has chosen to follow?

• How have other media covered a given issue, what stories have they told?

• Most of all: what questions remain unresolved?

Keeping our promise to focus on stories that already seem to have a ‘point’ of connection (the ereb logo reminds us of precisely this), over the summer we’ll publish our first report, born from these questions and chosen by our members.

ereb is finally creating spaces and taking shape.

This shape will be ever more closely connected to contributions from the community, which already includes over 30 women and men from all over Europe.

Road to ereb, un podcast « de communauté » en direct

Une communauté a d'abord besoin de se réunir.

Une réunion a besoin d'un lieu, d'un espace commun.

ereb est à la recherche de cet espace.

ereb a désormais un bureau officiel, à Paris.

En tant que média communautaire transnational né au milieu d'une pandémie, nous sommes amenés à trouver (ou plutôt inventer) un espace de rencontre non physique.

Road to ereb (Opens in a new window) est notre première tentative : un podcast en direct en anglais diffusé une fois par semaine sur Spreaker. Un espace destiné principalement aux membres, qui peuvent s'exprimer en direct via Skype, mais ouvert à tous les auditeurs.

Dans les épisodes précédents

Dans les deux premiers épisodes, nous avons rencontré Jessica, Giovanna et Marco, parmi les premiers à avoir rejoint la communauté ereb (voir les épisodes précédents). Avec Alexandre, Léa, Lorenzo et Quentin de l'équipe ereb, nous avons entamé une réflexion sur l'identité du média, de sa future valeur ajoutée et de ses perspectives de développement.

Le prochain rendez-vous est prévu le vendredi 28 mai à 17h30 CET : nous discuterons avec certains membres des espaces possibles de participation et de contribution au développement éditorial d'ereb. Nous ferons le point sur les différents travaux de la semaine, tout d'abord le développement du site web et sa maquette qui vient d'être reçue.

Premier choix important - le thème du prochain reportage

La réflexion sur le premier article d'ereb nous occupe ces derniers temps. Afin de sélectionner quatre propositions à soumettre à nos membres (par la suite, ils contribueront également à la rédaction des propositions elles-mêmes), nous nous sommes posés quelques questions :

• Que s'est-il passé en Europe au cours du mois dernier ?

• Dans quelle mesure cela affecte-t-il les thèmes qu'ereb et sa communauté ont choisi de suivre ?

• Comment les autres médias ont-ils couvert l'événement, quels angles ont-ils couvert ?

• Et surtout : quelles sont les questions qui restent sans réponse ?

Tenant notre promesse de nous concentrer sur les histoires qui semblent déjà avoir un point, une fin (le logo d'ereb nous le rappelle), nous publierons cet été le premier reportage né de ces questions et choisi par nos membres.

ereb crée enfin des espaces et prend forme.

Une forme qui sera de plus en plus liée aux contributions de ses membres, plus de 30 femmes et hommes de toute l'Europe.

Una comunità ha bisogno prima di tutto di incontrarsi.

Un incontro ha bisogno di un luogo, di uno spazio comune.

Come media di comunità cross-border nato nel bel mezzo di una pandemia mondiale, siamo però chiamati a trovare (inventare) uno spazio non-fisico d’incontro.

Insieme ad Alexander, Léa, Lorenzo e Quentin del team di ereb è iniziato un percorso di riflessione sull’identità di ereb, il suo futuro valore aggiunto e le sue prospettive di sviluppo.

La prima scelta importante - il tema del prossimo reportage

A riempire le nostre giornate ultimamente è la riflessione sulla prima storia di ereb. Per selezionare quattro proposte da mettere al vaglio dei nostri membri (dalla seconda storia contribuiranno anche alla stesura delle proposte stesse) ci siamo fatti delle domande:

• Cos’è successo in Europa nell’ultimo mese?

• In che misura riguarda i temi che ereb e la sua comunità hanno scelto di seguire?

• In che modo gli altri media se ne sono occupati, quali storie hanno raccontato?

• Soprattutto: quali domande rimangono irrisolte?

Mantenendo la promessa di puntare sulle storie che sembrano avere già avere un punto, una fine (il logo di ereb ci ricorda proprio questo), quest’estate pubblicheremo il primo reportage nato da queste domande e scelto dai nostri membri.

ereb sta finalmente creando spazi e prendendo forma.

Una forma che sarà sempre più connessa ai contributi dei suoi membri, oltre 30 donne e uomini da tutta Europa.
