Sonderevent: „PROF.fem – Auf dem Weg zur Hochschulprofessur“ am 7. Juli um 17 Uhr
Das langfristige Ziel von PROF.fem ist es, den Frauenanteil der Professorenschaft (in Rheinland-Pfalz) zu erhöhen. Der erste Schritt in diese Richtung ist, die Sensibilisierung von qualifizierten Frauen für die attraktive Karriereoption der Hochschulprofessorin. Viele Nachwuchswissenschaftlerinnen sind über diese Alternative nur unzureichend informiert – dies soll PROF.fem ändern. Ein Baustein des Programms ist die kommende Infoveranstaltung, bei dererfahrene Hochschulprofessorinnen aus ihrer eigenen Vita berichten und u.a. zu den Themen Berufsbild und Berufungsvoraussetzungen beraten. Außerdem bieten wir die Gelegenheit, Ihre individuellen Fragen rund um die (Fach-) Hochschulprofessur mit uns zu besprechen. Folgendes Programm erwartet Sie:

WUMAN steht nicht still und wir auch nicht. Vor der Sommerpause haben wir noch einiges vor und hoffen, uns dann getaner Dinge im August etwas zurücklehnen zu können und zu verschnaufen. Wir werden euch dann im September mehr berichten, hehe :D
Außerdem streuen wir das Konzept von WUMAN wo wir nur können, z.B. beim „Kamingespräch von und für Frauen zu Fragen der Karriereplanung“ mit Prof. Dr. Petra Stanat, Prof. Dr. Jasmin Decristan und Dr. Meike Bonefeld am 29. Juni 2021! Der Abend war eine Veranstaltung der digiGEBF – also der digitalen Veranstaltungsreihe der Gesellschaft für Empirische Bildungsforschung. Wir spekulieren ja immer noch darauf, dass früher oder später auch an einigen anderen Universitäten in Deutschland Ableger von WUMAN gegründet werden. Vorbereitet sind wir – es gibt schon ausgearbeitete How-Tos und mehr und wir stehen jederzeit mehr als gerne unterstützend zur Seite 😊 Also falls ihr mit dem Gedanken spielt, meldet euch!

Aber wie anfangen? Und mensch, ist das schwierig. Und eigentlich könnte ich ja auch noch viele andere Sachen machen, aber Schreiben wäre schon wichtig… Kennt ihr das auch? Da hilft Co-Working!

PS: Zum Schreiben gehört auch eine Outline machen, Daten analysieren für das Paper, Revisionen machen, Literatur suchen und lesen, eine Präregistration schreiben… alles was euch euren Schreib-Zielen näher bringt.

Transnational Feminist Dialogues in Times of the Neoliberal University
The Margherita von Brentano Center for Gender Studies at Freie Universität Berlin is organizing for this summer term 2021, the third edition of the Transnational Feminist Dialogues. The online series will be held in May, June and July under the title: "Transnational Feminist Dialogues in Times of the Neoliberal University".
The current series focusses on the neoliberal character of today´s higher educational system and want to address some structural phenomena related to power relations from a critical perspective. Our invitation is to reflect and discuss which discourses, policies and actors are shaping universities in times when neoliberalism has reached all spheres of the higher educational system and what alternatives we have to counter this one-sidedness.

Call for applications: Melon/Scholar at Risk Academic Freedom Workshop & Fellowships
We would like to draw your attention to a new, remote fellowship opportunity at Scholars at Risk (SAR) aimed at early-career researchers (doctoral candidates and postdocs) working on academic freedom issues. Personal experiences with risk or threat are not a consideration for selection, but current or formerly at-risk researchers working on academic freedom are encouraged to apply. Candidates in or from the global south and from minority or otherwise marginalized communities are strongly encouraged to apply.
What is offered?
· Admission to an eight-month program from November 2021 to June 2022
· Fellowship of USD 1,000 per month
· Opportunity to gain exposure to SAR’s programing and to network with SAR partner-experts on academic freedom issues
What is expected?
The program is intended to provide a research fellowship and supportive professional community for researchers to develop and share related work leading to a publishable article, new course offering, workshop, webinar, conference presentation, or other identified end product. Fellows are expected to participate in eight to ten remote, online and/or public webinars with co-recipients, SAR staff, network members, and guests (with proper security accommodations).
Criteria
· Masters or doctoral degree received less than 8 years ago
· Current research or teaching affiliation with a higher education institution
· Demonstrated interest in teaching, researching, or publishing on issues of academic freedom
· Preference for projects involving comparative, international, or collaborative work, especially by or including as equal partners researchers from the global south
· Able to receive lawfully stipend funds and complete program requirements in the country of current location, assuming responsibility for tax or reporting requirements, if any
Application and deadline
· Abstract of 500—1000 words detailing the research topic, its importance, and how it fits in long-term teaching, research, or advocacy goals
· Proposed research plan/timeline for the eight-month program (November 2021—June 2022)
· CV, including publication history and names of professional references
· Deadline for submission: 15 August 2021. Decisions will be announced in October 2021.

Ihr habt es sicherlich mitbekommen, aber auf Twitter tut sich was. Unter dem Hashtag #IchbinHanna bzw. #IchbinHannah aber inzwischen auch #HannaimBundestag und #HannabeiderGEW posten Wissenschaftler*innen aller Fachdisziplinen über die teilweise mehr als unsäglichen Bedingungen im Wissenschaftssystem in Deutschland. Dabei ist auch ein feministischer und intersektionaler Blick wichtig und wir sind froh um alle Twitteristi, die sich kritisch äußern und aus ihren Worten dann auch Taten folgen lassen.
Erfreulicherweise melden sich auch zunehmend Professor*innen, Dekan*innen und verschiedene Fachgesellschaften zu Wort und kritisieren das aktuelle System. Wir brauchen hier eine breite Front an Menschen, die sich einbringen und protestieren. Und wer weiß, vielleicht sehen wir ja bald wie #Hannastreikt… 😉

Special event: "PROF.fem - On the way to a university professorship" on July 7 at 5 p.m.
The long-term goal of PROF.fem is to increase the proportion of women professors (in Rhineland-Palatinate). The first step in this direction is to raise awareness among qualified women about the attractive career option of becoming a university professor. Many young female scientists are insufficiently informed about this alternative - PROF. fem aims to change this. One component of the program is the upcoming information event, at which experienced female university professors will report on their own vitae and provide advice on topics such as job description and appointment requirements. In addition, we offer the opportunity to discuss your individual questions about the (subject) university professorship with us. The following program awaits you:

The evening was an event of digiGEBF - i.e. the digital event series of the Society for Empirical Educational Research. We are still speculating that sooner or later offshoots of WUMAN will be founded at some other universities in Germany. We are prepared - there are already elaborated how-tos and more and we are always more than happy to support you 😊So if you play with the idea, get in touch!

PS: Writing also includes making an outline, analyzing data for the paper, making revisions, searching and reading literature, writing a preregistration... anything that gets you closer to your writing goals.
PPS: My writing routine 1. time to say hello and arrive, get an overview and set goals (5 minutes) 2. get going (no mails, no cell phone) 3. possibly short break (5-10 minutes) 4. write down what was accomplished and say goodbye (5 minutes)

Call for applications: Melon/Scholar at Risk Academic Freedom Workshop & Fellowships
We would like to draw your attention to a new, remote fellowship opportunity at Scholars at Risk (SAR) aimed at early-career researchers (doctoral candidates and postdocs) working on academic freedom issues. Personal experiences with risk or threat are not a consideration for selection, but current or formerly at-risk researchers working on academic freedom are encouraged to apply. Candidates in or from the global south and from minority or otherwise marginalized communities are strongly encouraged to apply.
What is offered?
· Admission to an eight-month program from November 2021 to June 2022
· Fellowship of USD 1,000 per month
· Opportunity to gain exposure to SAR's programming and to network with SAR partner-experts on academic freedom issues
What is expected?
The program is intended to provide a research fellowship and supportive professional community for researchers to develop and share related work leading to a publishable article, new course offering, workshop, webinar, conference presentation, or other identified end product. Fellows are expected to participate in eight to ten remote, online and/or public webinars with co-recipients, SAR staff, network members, and guests (with proper security accommodations).
Criteria
· Masters or doctoral degree received less than 8 years ago
· Current research or teaching affiliation with a higher education institution
· Demonstrated interest in teaching, researching, or publishing on issues of academic freedom
· Preference for projects involving comparative, international, or collaborative work, especially by or including as equal partners researchers from the global south
· Able to receive lawfully stipend funds and complete program requirements in the country of current location, assuming responsibility for tax or reporting requirements, if any
Application and deadline
· Abstract of 500-1000 words detailing the research topic, its importance, and how it fits into long-term teaching, research, or advocacy goals
· Proposed research plan/timeline for the eight-month program (November 2021-June 2022)
· CV, including publication history and names of professional references
· Deadline for submission: 15 August 2021. Decisions will be announced in October 2021.

Under the hashtag #IchbinHanna or #IchbinHannah, but now also #HannaimBundestag and #HannabeiderGEW, scientists from all disciplines post about the sometimes more than unspeakable conditions in the science system in Germany. A feminist and intersectional view is also important, and we are glad for all Twitterists who express themselves critically and then follow up their words with action.
Fortunately, more and more professors, deans, and various professional societies are speaking out and criticizing the current system. We need a broad front of people who get involved and protest. And who knows, maybe we'll soon see how #Hannastreikt... 😉
