Welcome to Snowboard Instructor Tools
With almost 20 seasons of experiences teaching snowboarding and kiteboarding around the world, I have found that the best tool for an instructor or coach is their eyes.
Hi, I am Quentin, I am a CASI-ACMS certified snowboard instructor and an IKO certified kiteboard instructor, I have been teaching those two passions since 2010 as my full-time job. I have worked with many different instructors in different countries around the world. The BIGGEST improvement I get for my teaching and pedagogy is from the experience and knowledge of my co-workers. The MOST USEFUL training I do is to train my eyes at observing my students. The HARDEST skill to have for new instructors is to make a coherent lesson. This is why I have started SBITool! A free Snowboard Motion Analysis training on Youtube, a place for motivated instructors to learn and share experiences, a set of tools to help you train, practice and understand how to deliver better lessons, and hopefully much more as we grow.
The Main Training
My primary goal with SBITool is to give you the tools to train your eyes and build a lesson plan according to your student's needs. The best way to do that training is with Motion or Video Analysis. Some Instructors associations already integrate it into their certifications, but many don't.
Listening and understanding the view of our fellow instructors can benefit you so much by increasing your bag of tricks and drills, as well as expending your vision. So I encourage you deeply to share your point of view and analysis as well as asking questions on the other instructors' methods.
I will always share my Analysis version of the MA on Youtube for everyone to access for free.
The Community
As I said, I believe in the importance of sharing our knowledge and experiences between instructors so we can all increase our efficiency and deliver outstanding lessons to our students.
I have created a Discord server to allow for easier communication. So why a paid access community? It is a filter to keep active, serious and passionate instructors and block trolls, spams and non-serious people. I decided to allow you to join the community with a choice of three tiers:
. Contributor: A good way to thanks me for the free training on Youtube and not break your wallet.
. Membership: To get more tools, info and access while keeping the price low.
. Supporter: If you value the training a lot and really want to help me keep SBITool going.
Members Rewards
Everyone will have access to the community (Discord channel join link in the thank you page) to be able to pick each other brains if you have questions. Everyone will be able to contribute to the growth of SBITool and share their two cents on what to improve and what they would like to see.
The membership plan is getting extra perks:
. Exclusive access to the MA video without my analysis to be able to train before I share my version.
. Exclusive access to tips and extra information on pedagogy and teaching.
. Extra tools for MA such as forms and few others in the making.
If you decide to be a supporter, you will get extra decision power on future videos and tools. As well as a postcard, I will print one of my many landscape photos, and send it to you with a thank you note, my hand-writing is not great, but my photos are better.
I have plenty of ideas on rewards I would like to offer you, but not the time, material or knowledge to do or guarantee it at the moment. So there will be random events (such as Q&A, Livestream, live chat etc...) here and there for me to understand them better and evaluate the best ones to offer to you. Feel free to share with me what YOU would like to see.
Work in Progress & Feedback
As our riding, pedagogy and snowboard understanding, I consider SBITool to be a WIP and a community. So as for your lesson, Feedback is important for me! Please send me your feedback and ideas on what I can improve. It is far from perfect, I still have to improve my mic talking for example, so having your feedback and suggestion is very important.
Other Ways to Support
There are plenty of other ways to support me and SBITool, here are a few that would really help:
. A thank you message, nothing better to keep me motivated on this project than showing me that it is helping you grow as an instructor.
. Share & Train with your coworkers, the more we are, the more value we will get.
. Subscribe & Like the Youtube Videos.
. Youtube Transcript to your language
