Using a black marker I black out words and phrases on newspaper clippings from the business newspaper "The Financial Times". That way only a few words remain which together amount to a previously hidden, new meaning. economic words are surprising notations extracted from the world of economics as represented by the printed world of daily financial news: composed entirely of the vocabulary of money a visual poetry is created that goes beyond capital flows, stock market listings, and international money shifts.
For several years now, I have been publishing economic words, at regular intervals and free of charge, on the Internet on www.economicwords.com (Öffnet in neuem Fenster), Facebook (Öffnet in neuem Fenster) and Instagram (Öffnet in neuem Fenster). To my way of thinking, it is nice and important that as many people as possible can enjoy economic words without paying for it. However, this also means that I have to find the necessary funding for my artistic work elsewhere.
You can now support me here on steady with a monthly amount to help me continue drawing and publishing economic words for free. Steady is a Berlin-based platform that helps creatives like me collect small amounts from many people every month. These are then bundled and passed on to me in monthly amounts. All memberships together result in a kind of monthly basic income and thus provide me with the necessary air for the long artistic breath.
You as my supporters get something back as a thank you for your membership: Depending on the membership you have chosen, you can receive signed original economic words (Öffnet in neuem Fenster) – unique copies of your choice. These originals are 5.5 cm wide and between 7-15 cm high, drawn with a black marker on salmon pink newsprint of the "Financial Times", signed and dated on the rear side. There is also the possibility to pre-order the book " anke becker – economic words" (Öffnet in neuem Fenster) which will be available this September.
I appreciate your support, however much or little. economicwords forever and for everyone! Anke
