Paris citizens say yes to 500 car-free streets, weather warnings via 5G

Hello dear Good News community,

As I strolled through the streets of Berlin at the weekend, I thought to myself how much more relaxed it would be if streets and alleyways with cafés and small shops were car-free. More space for socialising instead of street noise! This is exactly what the people of Paris have now decided to do. In a public survey, they voted in favour of 500 streets without cars.

Paris: Citizens say yes to 500 car-free streets

Paris has voted in a public consultation for car-free streets: 500 streets will be closed to cars and transformed with greenery. Currently, 220 streets are already car-free, almost all areas have a 30 km/h speed limit, and through-traffic in the city center is banned. Voter turnout was four percent. Source: REUTERS

Weather warnings via 5G – in real time

Researchers in Australia are investigating how extreme weather conditions can be better predicted using 5G signals - in real time. This would make it possible to make precise predictions about when and where, for example, flooding is to be expected. Conventional weather forecasts do not currently provide real-time data.
