Christmas Season is just around the corner and we all feel more or less stressed. For some of us, this is a very sensitive season and for some of us, it's the best time of the year. I always called myself the grinch in our family, as soon as I grew up, I barely understood why we- as no christians - no religious family celebrate Christmas. Only my great-grand parents were religious, and I wished they would share more of their Ukrainian and Austrian traditions with us, than the German Christmas traditions. As a kid it made sense to me and nowadays I understand that family keep it up, as there are kids and of course children love Christmas. Do they? I mean German traditions around st. Nicholaus and Knecht Ruprecht, Santa Klaus and co are kinda awkward. I remember my sister always cried her soul out when Santa came. She was so afraid of this white/red dude with his rod/tail how ever. And I mean, sorry but why do German tell kids, if you don’t behave, Santa will hit you with the rod. WTF ? But do we wonder, after we read the Brother Grimms Fairytales ? Not really… 🌙 Nowadays I prefer the Rauhnächte way more than Xmas, first of all, because Christmas just adapted from the Rauhnächte and secondly, the Rauhnächte are about inner and outer balance, rest and reflection. It’s about the alignment with nature and not about following one person we put on a pedestal.
