Letting go is tough. Letting go of people, patterns, places, concepts, expectations and control. Mastering and going through change is one of the most challenging things. Being part of the “Día de los Muertos” celebrations last week in Mexico, showed me how the Mexicans do it. The Day of the Dead isn’t a sad day for them. In fact, it is a big joyful celebration of remembering and honoring. A celebration of letting go and accepting the inevitable things in life. People are setting up altars with pictures of their deceased loved ones. And they are playing loud music on the cemeteries, singing and dancing on their relatives’ graves. Acknowledging that there is no life without death seems to be deeply embedded in their culture.
