Voter registration closes at midnight tonight

Dear Supporters,

Thank you so much for all you are doing to help us make sure that as many EU Citizens as possible register to vote in the local, regional and mayoral elections taking place in England on 2 May including the GLA and Mayoral elections in London.

With your help, we have been doing our best to remind MPs, community groups and all who can help to get a message to EU citizens, that they still have the vote in these elections.

From June this year, the government is stripping the vote from all EU citizens who arrived in Britain after 31 December 2020,  unless there is a similar arrangement in place with their country of origin.  This is unfair and discriminatory and we oppose it.

Far from introducing legislation to exclude residents from voting, we should be priding ourselves in Britain on building as inclusive a democracy as possible.

We would like to see all permanent residents given the right to vote in all elections and also the introduction of overseas constituencies for Britons abroad.

It really helps the campaign if we can demonstrate that EU citizens in the UK and Britons abroad really value their vote.

That is why we have been working so hard to encourage EU citizens to register - they can still do so up to midnight tonight.

We also need to mobilise those who have registered to use their vote on 2 May.

Anything you can do to chip in to help resource this campaign will help achieve this objective.

We learned from the vote denied scandal in 2019 when over 1.6million EU Citizens were denied their vote that the Government is not going to lift a finger to maximise the turnout of EU citizens - that is why we are working so hard to do so.

We count on your support to Get Out the EU Citizens' vote on 2 May and show that every voice should count and every vote be counted.

With thanks and warm regards

THE NEW EUROPEANS UK TEAM
