A quick note to let you know that Alec Riley’s Egypt diary (Opens in a new window) is now in print.
The hardcover with dust jacket is a week or two away, but the paperback (Opens in a new window) and Kindle ebook (Opens in a new window) are available now through Amazon.
We’ve illustrated the account (Opens in a new window) with contemporary photos of Egypt by British, Australian and New Zealand soldiers. (Special thanks to Steve Chambers for sharing an album compiled by a man in the Divisional Signal Company.)
There are also 4 specially produced maps, biographies of many of the soldiers named in the text (including a detailed look at General Sir Ian Hamilton), and a list documenting the Field State of the East Lancashire Division at embarkation in 1914.
We’ll start work on the Netley diary soon. Next week we head to Gallipoli, where we’ll meet up with Peter Hart’s tour. More on that later!
