State of my plugins

Kirby 5 is right around the corner and comes with some breaking changes and cool new features. I am happy to be able to announce that most of my plugins are already compatible.

There is some cool stuff coming with Kirby 5. I’ve been working on my plugins lately so they are ready for the update when it drops. Nearly all of my plugins are ready by now, which means:

• They’ll work with Kirby 4 and 5

• They’ll support new features like the dark mode

• The recent updates are Kirby 5 ready

So if you update your plugins regularly (which you should do) you’ll be fine. Right now they will work with Kirby 4 and as soon as you update to Kirby 5 they’ll work there, too.

The following plugins will work with both version and you won’t notice any changes:

• IndieConnector

• OG Image

• Darkvisitors

• Pexels Image Field

Podcaster

The Podcaster-Plugin will look a bit different. I worked on the Analytics view so better works with the dark mode. It also comes with a new graph for top episodes and a new selection tool to look into single episodes or compare episodes:

Komments

The Komments plugin is the one, which may not be compatible right now. I didn’t test it, because I am working on a new major release (which will be compatible, of course).

This new major release will come with a brand-new panel view, making it easier to moderate comments. You can even reply from within the panel. I am currently working on the last tasks of the migration manager, to assure that you can easily convert all your old comments into the new data format. Yes there are breaking changes, but I’ll take care of that.

Hopefully I’ll be able to release the new version soon, it’s the last 10% – you may know that these can be the most painful ones.
