Turning a sample from a discarded music box mechanism into an e-piano sound.

Swiss Music Box Mechanism

A single note, A#6, from this discarded music box mechanism had been sampled with a 5,- € contact microphne, oversampled eight times and run through magnetic pickup distortion at two different levels for velocity layering.

Due to the bandlimited nature of the sound, and the lack of body resonances, a multisample was not needed in this case.

The result makes a nice e-piano-ish instrument.

Other than the original mechanism, the sound varies with velocity in timbre (and amplitude).
