Village is committed to holding those in power accountable. This is never more important than at election time. We need your support for our indepth online election coverage until 7th February.

For 15 years, Village has been challenging the cosy and others with principles of Equality, Sustainability and Accountability.  We are driven by the evidence and, unusually for Ireland tailor our principles to the evidence not the evidence to the principles.

We aim to provide longer, investigative, fact-rich and evidence-grounded journalism, with integrity at its heart.

Using the available data Village uniquely showed that media coverage of Coronavirus overplayed the likely deaths and the situations in ICUs, morgues and cemeteries.  Village uniquely predicted that Brexit would result in major prejudice to Ireland as the UK, including NI, sought to gain competitive advantages from undercutting EU environmental and social standards. Village highlighted Ireland's hypocrisy on climate, the environment and planning when others fell for official spin.

The Truth is our filter and those who betray it have always been aggressively called out by Village. Uniquely in Irish journalism, Village Magazine calls a liar a liar and a racist a racist.

Over the years it has championed whistleblowers such as Jonathan Sugarman over Unicredit, Gerard Ryan over the Ansbacher Accounts and Seamus Maye over CRH.

It has stood its ground in the face of High Court defamation actions from Declan Ganley, Michael Colgan (ongoing), Michael McLoone (ongoing) and Gemma O’Doherty (ongoing), and threats from the likes of Denis O’Brien and former Attorney General Paul Gallagher.  Our independence means that we set our own agenda free from commercial or party-political bias.

Now it’s time to grow this agenda.

Village will never charge for online access.  We will never impose a paywall as we believe democracy, in the era of  #FakeNews, demands the most widespread access to accurate reporting and progressive opinion.

However, we need your support as print journalism fights a notoriously difficult battle. Please help us to continue to challenge the privileged, the powerful the wealthy and even the reader. Independently.

Whichever way you choose to support us, it’s fundamental to our future.

You can support us for  €5 a month. For €10 a month you can become a supporter and receive copies of the ten editions Village prints annually. For €20 euro a month you receive the print magazine and a ticket to two political talks hosted by Village, annually.

All supporters are invited to submit proposals about issues for Village to investigate.
