Fingolfin’s Findings LXVI: One of Tolkien’s greatest critics, Michael Moorcock, has never really read “The Lord of the Rings”

Fans all over the world will have heard of two influential critical pieces: “Oo, those awful orcs!” (Opens in a new window) by Edmund Wilson (Opens in a new window) and “Epic Pooh” (Opens in a new window) [pdf] by Michael Moorcock (Opens in a new window) (revised edition, British Fantasy Society, 1978).

What I did not know until recently is - Moorcock never read LotR in full.
