Final 2024 Post, plus a discount and a giveaway…
Dear all,
It’s that time of year again when tinsel, twinkling lights and tankards of Glühwein help make the monochromes of winter bearable.
Accordingly, we’ve recently published some festive posts—an update on our favourite Christmas Markets (Opens in a new window) this year, and an associated reel (Opens in a new window) or two (Opens in a new window) on Instagram.
But our final post of the year is about exploration.
More specifically, it’s a selection of Abandoned Berlin’s favourite local Berlin places (Opens in a new window), which range from former WW2 and East Germany / Red Army sites, as well as a Zombie hospital, a derelict train station and a couple of local classics in the shape of Teufelsberg and Spreepark; the latter being the place that kicked the whole Abandoned Berlin project off.
As a special seasonal bonus, and to prove they are not grinches, the fine folk behind that project are also giving us a very generous 50% off all of their (very cool) tee-shirts (Opens in a new window), while stocks last.
Talking of gifts, we have an exclusive foodie giveaway for our members, courtesy of the good people at Prism (Opens in a new window) in Charlottenburg.
I’ve known head chef Gal Ben Moshe since he opened his first restaurant (Glass) back in the day and can personally vouch for his delicious and constantly creative Levantine-oriented cuisine. It was no surprise when he—along with his sommelier wife and partner Jacqueline Lorenz—won a well-deserved Michelin star in 2020.
To support what we do here at STB, Gal and Jacqueline are offering a free meal for two that would normally cost 99 euros per person.
To have a chance to win it, you need to be in Berlin between now and the end of January and send me a quick message via Steady or to slowtravelberlin@gmail, to let me know you are interested. You can watch a reel here (Opens in a new window) to get a glimpse of what to expect.
I’ll send the winner an email in the next 24 hours, so if you don’t hear back from me it means… better luck next time! But of course I’ll be back with more posts and exclusive offers in January, so don’t worry.
All that remains is to say a sincere thanks once again for your valued support, which allows this project to continue, and to wish all those who celebrate a wonderful festive season.
It seems there will be no snow this side of Christmas; in case you’re missing it, you can always stare at this gallery (Opens in a new window) of snow-covered Berlin images with a cup of hot chocolate.
Much love and wintery warmth,
Paul
PS, I should also let you all know that our membership plans are now giftable (Opens in a new window), just in case you or anyone you know needs an affordable last-minute idea.
