New Europeans Kyiv member Kateryna Sokolova, originally from the Donbass region, reflects on how a past Russian invasion affected her life.

"When you tell people that the war with Russia has been lasting for more than seven years, and you lost your hometown, your house, and a part of your family, they usually tell you they were sorry to hear that." 

"But the truth is they are not. This is just a way to be polite. It would be far more honest for them to tell you that they can't imagine what you are going through".  So let me tell you what I am going through".
