What We Learned From Our Publishing Workshop

The BRICKS team rounds up the best tips and advice from Bergstrom Studios literary agent Megan Staunton

On Tuesday, we held our third virtual workshop with literary agent Megan Staunton (Opens in a new window). She walked us through her career journey so far, from working in-house at Penguin to a talent agent at Gleam before moving to become a literary agent at Bergstrom Studios. She also shared the basics of writing a book proposal, how to contact an agent and what first-time authors can expect from a book deal. She also shared her advice on how to make your book stand out from the rest, what market research you should do and the common mistakes made by prospective authors.

Below, we share some of Megan’s best advice from the workshop. To keep up to date with all of our virtual workshops, make sure to follow The Learner Platform Instagram (Opens in a new window) account and keep an eye out for your emails.
