Our Essential Pieces of Kit for New Creatives: Photography, Styling & HMUA
This week, the BRICKS team & collective members share their essential tools for emerging photographers, stylists and hair & makeup artists to have in their on-set kit.
In an ever increasingly high-tech creative industry, the list of tools and equipment available to elevate your creative practice can feel never-ending. However, as an emerging creative, these tools and technologies can become expensive and so it’s often necessary to prioritise which pieces of kit to buy first. This can be especially true if you’re a recent graduate, or leaving a creative organisation where kit rental is easily accessible and affordable.
While there are still many great resources out there for hiring kit – including Fat Llama (Opens in a new window) and Wedio (Opens in a new window) – for those looking where to invest in their kits, we’ve compiled responses from members of the BRICKS editorial team and BRICKS collective creative agency to share our kit essentials.
For this edition, we’ve focused on kit essentials for photographers, stylists and hair & makeup artists, however, many of these tips will be useful to any creative working on a set whether it’s in art, fashion, film or music.
