Agenda Edition #4 / 16.-19.05 / This weekend feels like a special treat!

Hi, and welcome back to agenda - got plans?, a newsletter featuring a curated selection of art, design and fashion events in Berlin. I'm Kate, a freelance journalist, Berlin local and art/design lover. I hope my newsletter makes it a bit easier for you to navigate through everything this city has to offer. Nothing is sponsored. Every event I recommend is one I plan to attend myself or would suggest to a good friend!

That said, what is happening in Berlin this week(end)?

  • Try to get a ticket to a pretty cool private birthday bash

  • Get your hands on some unique clothes at the Melisa Minca Archiv Sale

  • Enjoy contemporary visual art with a soundtrack

  • Have a night out like Andy Warhol

  • Take a trip to Potsdam

… read until the end for our shortlist with even more highlights.

#1 RSVP to Trauma’s Birthday Bash right now!

Attention, please: This party will not take place this week. However, if you RSVP now, you might be able to secure a free ticket. Trauma Bar is celebrating its 6th birthday at one of Berlin's most underrated venues, the Metropol in Schöneberg. The building itself is a bomb! I will be there and if you have been to some of Trauma Bar’s events before, so should you.

#4 Andy Warhol x Fotografiska Opening Party

If I’m honest with you, I never know what to think about Fotografiska. Sure, they feature beautiful (fashion) photography, but I do not really get their fee policy. Keeping in mind the unique history of the building fotografiska is based in, everything feels a bit try-too-hard, a bit too branded, a bit too shiny to me. That being said, they do a great job promoting their exhibitions by guided tours, artist talks – and – opening parties. Up next: The Andy Warhol x Fotografiska Opening Party on Friday night: Highlights include a ballroom event with dance performances, late-night access to the new Andy Warhol and Joanna Dudley exhibitions, and DJ sets. Other than your usual vernissage, this event is a full-on party and yes, you need to buy tickets for it.

Andy Warhol x Fotografiska Opening Party
Friday, 17.05, 20:00 - 04:00
Location: Fotografiska Berlin
Admission: 15€ (you can buy tickets online)

#5 Take a trip to Potsdam: Free entry at Museum Barberini

I’m a museum lover, and since living in Berlin for more than ten years, I know pretty much every big house by heart now. If you’re a bit like me (tired of the Berlin classics but still in the mood for a classy Sunday at the museum), check out Museum Barberini in Potsdam this weekend! Due to International Museum Day (Opens in a new window) on Sunday, you are invited to visit the e (Opens in a new window)xhibition for free. It’s easy to get there (around 30 min by S-Bahn), and you can even combine it with a stroll through the beautiful gardens of Sanssouci Palace. It’s a great excursion if you want to escape the capital during Karneval der Kulturen.

Museum Barberini
Free entry on Sunday (Internationaler Museumstag)
Location: Alter Markt, Humboldtstraße 5–6, 14467 Potsdam
