Who's finally accountable in this country?

Dear reader,

This is our weekly round-up from Greece.

The Greek government granted ‘inviolability’ (Öffnet in neuem Fenster) to the train accident investigation body they appointed. The ruling party has previously given inviolability to the Health Experts Committee, the principal advisory body during the pandemic, and bank managers.

The election date was finally announced to be the 21 of May. With hot issues mounting, like railway safety, surveillance, freedom of the press, human rights violations, and inflation, the PM made aggressive migration policy the epicenter of the ND election campaign.

Like all other misfortunes were not enough, Athens's historic cinemas are now also under threat. The state sold the buildings hosting them to a hotel group that wants to demolish them and turn them into hotels and other ‘investments.’
