I wrote earlier about the importance of developing taste. Anybody who works in software development needs to study software. It’s an essential vaccination against the pop culture virus that’s endemic in programming. You can’t leave the study of exemplary software to the designers. You need your favourite apps, interfaces you think will work well, and code you find impressive, to be able to develop software development as a craft. It doesn’t matter if you are a coder or non-coder, designer or developer, project manager or product manager, you need to know the field. You are all a part of the craft of making software.
