Ferns

Slowly, the gaseous ball in the sky spreads its warmth, its rays waking plants from their winter slumber.

But it will take a while before life fully flourishes on the forest floor, and until the brown, dead leaves gives way to vibrant green life.

This picture of two ferns, enjoying the rare sunlight that reaches the bottom of the german beech forests, reminds us of what spring will soon bring.
