The Harlem Hellfighters: A Story of Bravery and Betrayal

Hey Family,
In this episode, we’re looking into the story of the Harlem Hellfighters—a regiment of Black soldiers who fought harder and longer than most during World War I, only to return home to racism, violence, and rejection.
They spent 191 days on the front lines, earning France’s highest military honour, but in America, their bravery was met with hostility. No parades, no gratitude—just the same old Jim Crow reality. So, what does it mean to fight for a country that refuses to fight for you? And how do we honour those who gave everything but received nothing in return?
This is a story of bravery, betrayal, and resilience—one that still echoes today. Let’s unpack it together.
