Conceived as an artificial island, atop an enormous concrete rainwater basin in the old Tempelhof Airport, the Floating University Berlin (FUB) is an international place for sharing, experimenting and learning. It aspires to foster new forms of urban action and to promote climate change awareness. A gem in the heart of Berlin.

#19 The Suitcase Radio |16.09.19|

The story of Niki Matita, a sound artist and radio activist, who travels us through her passion for the radio : from the old radio stereo set of her childhood, her fascination for punk and hard core music as a teenager, to her days of running a club in Berlin and eventually, after her involvement with various community radio shows, creating her own traveling radio project : “Das Köffer Radio”, The Suitcase Radio.

#20 Movement Activism |23.09.19|

The story of the dance artist, performer, teacher and blogger Diana Thielen, who is fascinated by the human body in all its expressions: how we move, how we present ourselves, how we position ourselves socially, how we change and adapt over our lifetimes in response to various challenges. Her research in Gender Studies supports her theory that our identity is always embedded in complex power situations and that our bodies cannot be encompassed by biology and physics alone. She calls her approach to movement “Movement Activism”.

#21 Archipelago of sounds |30.09.19|

The story of Archipel Stations Community Radio, an online radio that was born from the need of a group of friends to connect through their interdisciplinary interests. It transmits material from contributors of different backgrounds, ages and languages from all over the world. As an archipelago of creative minds, this project hopes to encourage cross-cultural communication and diversity and to make radio more accessible.
