Why give the tech industry the benefit of the doubt when they are all but claiming godhood—that they’ve created a new form of life never seen before?

Summary

Generative AI are synthesis engines. They synthesise or generate new text, audio, or images from their training data based on prose prompts. This synthesis can be purely generative—making something new—or it can be used to convert or modify existing media. They are not Artificial General Intelligences.
