Another gorgious late summer day. North-Easterlys winds picking up and again ruffling leaves and branches, slowly turning South. Had a semolina porridge for second breakfast today. No, not the traditional type my husband spoke of more than once, which Post-World-War II school children got in school, often as the day's only meal. The back of the line gets the raisins, which have settled in the pot's bottom, was his report and advice.

2. The Grape

Grapes not only make for wine. They also provide sweetness whenever one would like to do without industrial sugar or the taste of honey does not suit. They are delicious as raisins in everything from red cabbage to red beetroot, from apple compote to all sorts of cakes and pastries.

Our House recommendation. Semolina porridge with raisins. Heat some milk and water, adding semolina and raisins while stirring. Remove from the heat, pour in a deep plate and sprinkle with cinnamon. Delicious and filling.

My late breakfast semolina today was different. Boiling one small apple of two trees we have planted two years ago (a third tree simply appeared, full of fruit in the garden's most sun-filled spot), chopped in small pieces, boiled in water only, raisins and clover added. No milk to avoid curdling. With it, a cup or two of  Orange Jaipur Tea. So good, the tartness of the apple and the sweet of the raisins.

This wild self planted tree, simply is amazing. All its growth in one or two years. Full of tiny apples, clustering on the branches

Todays wish. May humanity recognize the ingenuity of nature, its quality, its abundance, its beauty.
