Film Recommendation

After receiving numerous (more than two!) recommendations from friends aware of my twin predilections for movies about sex and misery, I was pleased to find Bertrand Bonello's House of Tolerance available here in the States via the people's platform, Tubi, or through sundry digital rental services in the UK.

In an elite Parisian bordello all but sealed off from the outside world, suspended in a perpetual afternoon haze, Bonello found a new channel for his fascination with how historically significant individuals (as in Saint Laurent and his upcoming, superb The Beast) or groups (as in Nocturama and On War) absorb and channel the essence of their times.
