Film Recommendation

This is a bit of an obvious one, but at the same time, The Thing is one of the movies you can have on infinite rotation. The anticipatory wait between gore set-pieces remains a constant delight, as does its tail of extreme male paranoia allowing for a shape-shifting alien stalker to slice through its prey more cleanly. One of the reasons we’re picking this one is because there’s a subtle link to the cover film of the new print edition of Little White Lies. When my colleague Kambole Campbell interviewed filmmaker Ryan Coogler, he did so in front of a poster of The Thing, maybe offering a little secret inspirational clue as to where his new film, Sinners, draws its inspiration.
