The Making of “Don’t Buy It"

As you may have heard by now, we released our debut album single, Don’t Buy It, on Friday 17th May. And we gotta say - wow! It is by far our most listened to release, and we are very grateful for all the positive things that people have said about it. Releasing music is truly a privilege.

What you might not know is exactly how the song came to life. In this particular case, it involved a treehouse and panpipes. Curious? Dan will happily run you through the story in three chapters here:

In case you missed it, you can listen to the song on Spotify (Opens in a new window) or check out the music video (Opens in a new window).

Our Brighton experience

Travelling is always a little stressful. Add a bunch of misfits and musical instruments to the mix, and you have a recipe for disaster. The trip didn’t exactly start well, with Ralf managing to sprain his ankle whilst running in Romania. That meant that he conveniently “couldn’t carry anything” 😉

Despite Ralf’s injury and the fear that Dan wouldn’t be let back in the country, all the ERNSTis made it to Brighton safe and sound. A picture says a thousand words, so here are a few impressions of our trip to play The Alternative Escape in Brighton.

We managed to travel “light” with only 1 suitcase - our secret? Stuff our guitar bags full of clothes!

Somehow Ralf managed to perform with his ankle basically hanging off! A massive thank you goes to four of our Austrian fans, who joined us for our gigs in Brighton. They took this really cool photo! 🥰

Dan kept a close eye on Philipp in his attempts to make English breakfast.

We loved Brighton and particularly its long-standing support of the LGBTQIA+ community.

There was a political discussion about a sponsor of the festival and their connection to the arms trade. We decided to wear homemade “Artists For Ceasefire” badges during our performance.

The dream team!

Nicki and Dan dragged Elias and Philipp around London, and managed to avoid all the sights. Officially the worst tour guides ever.

What’s up next?

Things are certainly not slowing down for ERNST! And we have great news for our fans in Vienna and Upper Austria! You are the first to hear about our upcoming July gigs:

Thursday, 4 July - Vienna - Rhiz (support for LELEE (Opens in a new window))

Saturday, 6 July - Linz - Schlot Schlommerfest (Opens in a new window)

Saturday 27 July - Bad Goisern - Kunstmue Fest (Opens in a new window)

And we need your help! We would love to play a cover song at the upcoming festival gigs, and we need some inspiration. So…

Hit REPLY and tell us what cover song you’d love to hear us play!

Read that again!

A goodbye, but not for long...

Thanks so much for reading and for your interest in us as a band and our music. We really appreciate you took the time and hope you had fun with the extra content!

Lots of love,

ERNST 💗💛💜
