We Love Our Drummer! 💜

Find out why we threw a surprise party for Philipp.

By the way: If you haven't, you can subscribe to our monthly newsletter and get it directly into your inbox:

What's been happening?

As I am sure you’re aware by now, life is never dull in the world of ERNST
and this month was certainly no exception.

So why don’t you put your feet up (unless you're in a train, that’s rude) and enjoy this month’s ERNST newsletter. Here’s the good stuff we have in store for you:

  1. Our Drummer Appreciation Party (yep, you read that right)

  2. ERNST on Tour! (ish)

  3. Secret gig (sssssh!)

  4. More things we have planned

Our Drummer Appreciation Party

You see: Everybody in the band has a special role.

  • Elias: master of melody đŸŽ¶

  • Ralf: god of guitar solos 🎾

  • Nicki: entertainer extraordinaire đŸ€˜

  • Philipp: titan of tempo đŸ„

  • Dan
well, he’s certainly the ringleader of ridiculous ideas đŸ€Ą

This latest one apparently “came to him in a dream” and involved us throwing our wonderful drummer a surprise party to celebrate not only the fact that he is a total guru of groove but, more importantly, a great band mate.

Cute, right?

Drummers are often hidden behind the band on stage and covered in fog from the smoke machine, so we wanted to give Philipp the spotlight we think he deserves.

See how the surprise “Drummer Appreciation Party” went in the video below, and tell a drummer that you love them today!

ERNST on “Tour”

But we didn’t just party. We also had the absolute pleasure of playing two great gigs this month!

The first was in Club 1019 in Vienna with the wonderful ELSTER and Momo and the Void, and the second was in Triebwerk, Wiener Neustadt with our good friends Blending Borders.

What’s that I hear you say?

Two gigs doesn’t sound like a tour? Oh - don’t you worry, ERNST can make it into a tour!

After rocking the stage at Club 1019, we all piled into our trusty tour bus “Joe” (see below) to head on to the second (and last) night of our tour. Turns out that Triebwerk is only about a 45 minute drive from Club 1019, so we had about 46 hours to kill.

Luckily we were able to stay in Wiener Neudorf on Friday night, with Ralf’s sister and her partner offering us all some exceptional hospitality and letting us sleep at their place.

(She forced Ralf to sleep in the tour bus rather than the warm flat, as revenge for having to spend her childhood as his sister.)

Refreshed from our “rest day”, we headed on to the last night of the tour, and it is fair to say that emotions were running high – nearly as high as Elias’ fever that managed to show up on Friday night! đŸ”„

But never fear, a mere 39C fever wouldn’t stop him from getting up on that stage full of medicine and playing the best show of his life!

And with that epic, drugged-up performance, our tour came to an end.

A tour full of highs and lows, of laughing and crying
and we would do it all over again! You can check out the highlights below, and thanks to everybody who came out to see us!

A goodbye, but not for long...

Thanks so much for reading and for your interest in (Opens in a new window)us as a band and our music. We really appreciate you took the time and hope you had fun with the extra content!
