In April, we published three rather different blog posts on the future of territories. One post continues our reflections on the Cohesion Policy after 2027. Another explores the benefits of a spatial dimension in scenarios and foresight processes. The third looks into the proposal for a European Fair Transition Observatory.
Criteria for a future-wise Cohesion Policy. A forward-looking Cohesion Policy must go beyond business as usual and crisis management. In order to effectively contribute to Europe's future, Cohesion Policy must clearly demonstrate the benefits it delivers to all. It must meet five criteria or objectives. Future proof? Not without territory! Foresight and scenarios are important tools for envisioning positive futures and combatting presentism. Linking them to territorial implications provides a more complete picture and helps us progress from being merely informed to being able to influence the future through our actions. Mapping justice in the green transition. How fair is the green transition? Recent efforts to address this question include the European Commission's plan to establish a European Fair Transition Observatory.
