Everything Is Possible!

I used to think I was a tough journalist who could easily recognise when something couldn't possibly be real. When I saw the first penguin picture in the morning, I thought about a late April Fools joke. After the third pic I googled “a certain name + penguins” for a meme joke. But it was neither a joke nor a meme: Reality has become crazier than any imagination! (S'ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre) (The link is a must read!) Imagine the craziest thing you can think of: a certain convicted felon and jester could have put it into reality while you slept.

Disclaimer: Yes, again politics. Nowadays, if you love biodiversity and nature, you have to get political. Nowadays, we have to fight for our future. But don't worry, this is about how we can use situations for the good. And as always, my links are the bacon to go with the egg.

Back to the penguins living on Heard Island and McDonald Islands who show us clearly that even the most remote and human-free places on our planet are pelted with sh*t from a regime that has lost every humanity, empathy, and reason. Or as the Australian Prime Minister said: “Nowhere on Earth is safe.”

This morning, my writer’s imagination gave up for the first time in my life. I can come up with trouser-sh*tting bullies or with psychopaths on the wrong drugs as characters for a crazy novel. But my absurdest imagination can't top what the chief blackmailer from the other side of the pond comes up with - without anyone stopping him.

I once wrote: when I’m angry (and I’m super angry), it makes me creative. One coffee later my imagination worked again. What would happen, if we get as mad as that leader without leader skills? Start to think about the craziest politics you could make, if you were the president of the USA!

Let’s start with something easy.

Imagine that some penguins near Antarctica become more famous than an US foreign minister. Let’s concentrate on these animals and tell the story of melting ice and climate change! Perhaps we could install some extra hard tariffs on climate change causers?

Well, that’s not absurd enough.

Imagine two bullies playing in a sand box. They don’t stop to to annoy all the other children. Suddenly, someone comes up with the idea of setting them against each other. They don't go for each other yet. But the great bromance is already disturbed. Level one on the Absurdometer but it could have happened already (S'ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre).

Let’s try better!

Imagine you could invent some easy way to destroy capitalism. It would be so easy that you only had to wait being completely passive. And the most effective destroyers of capitalism would be the rich and powerful. Wait. Today top insurer Allianz warned of the end of capitalism. Yes, they did. And they come even with a survival plan for civilisation: “The good news is we already have the technologies to switch from fossil combustion to zero-emission energy.” That’s great: Imagine a top insurance company writing solarpunk or even hopepunk (S'ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)!

Would be nice, if more people would join: imagine your hopepunk and resist!

Doesn’t help?

Although too many people are still too sleepy, they underestimate their power! Look at what people can do to a big bully when they resist and boycott (S'ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)! Just resist more. Resist especially his platform. Resist another Trump enabler’s platforms.

Yes, actions work perhaps slowly but steadily. Even in France, the boycott grows, from 62% at the moment (S'ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre). Globally, nobody wants to play with bullies (S'ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre). Even if world leaders have to use diplomatic language, imagine what they think when they are alone.

Everthing seems to be possible in these times. When the evil ones in this bad reality film imagine evil things, do the opposite: imagine your personal hopepunk. Imagine a better world, a world full of humanity and hope. And then try to bring it into reality. Fight for your dreams. If the evil is possible, the good can get a role in the film, too. Don't let go of the good.
