Supporting Trans People of Colour: Sabah Choudrey in conversation with Yas Necati
Sabah Choudrey and Yas Necati, joined by a live audienceof gal-dem members at CitizenM Shoreditch, sat down to chat about Sabah’s brilliant book Supporting Trans People of Colour: How to Make Your Practice Inclusive.
It was an honour to bring together two brilliant writers and activists to talk about understanding gender diversity, liberation and intersectionality. And creating braver spaces for trans PoC communities.
Supporting Trans People of Colour: How to Make Your Practice Inclusive is an accessible and authoritative introduction to issues around People of Colour (POC) trans inclusion, this book uses case studies, tips, checklists and anonymous survey results to set out best practice for any professionals working with trans people to create safer spaces, support and awareness.
Sabah Choudrey is a reluctant activist on most things trans, brown and hairy. Sabah is a proud trans youth worker since 2014 and Joint Head of Youth Service at Gendered Intelligence since 2020, trustee for Inclusive Mosque Initiative, co-founder of Colours Youth Network and psychotherapist in training.
Sabah was in conversation with Yas Necati. Yas is a writer, journalist, poet and columnist for gal-dem’s beloved ‘Against The Binary’ column. Yas’s work focuses on queer and trans rights, feminism, mental health and community building.
